2. Real-time OA measurements

Measurement of outdoor air (OA) intake rates suitable for real-time control

Measurements of OA intake rates are challenging because of the low air speeds and complex airflow patterns in the OA intake sections of the air handlers when minimum ventilation rates (VRs) are provided. The goal of this task is to evaluate multiple technologies applicable to real-time measurement and control of OA rates.

  • Select two commercially available technologies of measuring OA rates that are used in heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system.
  • Evaluate accuracy of the technologies by comparing with a reference measurement at our onsite facility specifically engineered to measure OA rates.
