Project Description

This research will enable buildings to better meet minimum ventilation rate (VR) standards by allowing dynamic monitoring of VRs. At present, most commercial building heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems contain no technologies to control minimum VRs in real time. The advancement of real-time measurements of VRs will support wider use of demand controlled ventilation (DCV).

  • Energy and IAQ Benefits: Effects of controlling minimum VRs on energy, peak power, and indoor air quality in California commercial buildings.
  • Real-time OA measurements: Evaluate accuracy of two commercially available technologies for measuring outdoor air (OA) intake rates into buildings.
